Simple and Easy Savory Pancakes Recipe
Things You Need
- 1 cup Organic Zing’s Besan Flour
- ¼ cup Tomatoes (Finely Chopped)
- ¼ cup onions (Finely Chopped)
- 1 or 2 green chilies (Finely Chopped)
- ¼ cup chopped coriander leaves
- ½ teaspoon ginger (Finely Chopped)
- 1 pinch of Turmeric Powder
- ½ teaspoon red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
- Salt (as required)
- Oil (as required)
- Water (as required)
To The Kitchen
For Batter
- Add Organic Zing’s besan flour into a large mixing bowl.
- Add onions, tomatoes, green chilies, coriander leaves, and ginger into the bowl and mix everything using a ladle.
- After this, add turmeric, red chili powder, carom seeds, and salt (as required) to the bowl.
- Pour water little by little into the bowl and mix the batter. Do not pour all water at once; you will get a lumpy or inconsistent mixture.
- Stir the batter evenly and ensure it makes a smooth and runny consistency.
(One can taste the batter a little to check the salt)
Cooking Savory Besan Pancakes
- Heat a frying pan or skillet over medium heat. You can also use a non-stick frying pan.
- When the pan is medium hot, spread 1 or 1 ½ teaspoons of oil on it and pour a full ladle (2-3 tablespoons) of batter.
- Quickly spread the batter into an event-round pancake.
- Cook the chilla/savory pancake on a low flame until the top begins to look cooked.
- Drizzle a little oil on the top of the chilla and around the edges.
- Flip it and cook from the other side till it gets light brown or you see golden spots on the pancake.
- Repeat the process till your batter is finished.
